The Weekly Walk: Woof Means Home

The Weekly WalkArticle of the Week: Helping Each Other Help Dogs

The United States Humane Society has a blog post about many homeless in Hawaii unwilling to take shelter, because the shelters will not accept most of their dogs. While we wish these people’s situations were different, we commend them for their responsible and caring attitudes toward their pets. Many of them recognize that their dogs would be homeless and on their own without them, and they do not wish that condition on anyone.  We want people to have roofs over their heads and a supply of food, just as we want for dogs, and we hope the organization that has begun helping homeless people with pets, K9 Kokua, is able to continue assisting them and bringing attention to their plight.
