With summer on the way, you might be considering adopting a pet to spend time with outside. You will want to figure out appropriate play areas, walking routes, and games for your new furry friend and, just as important, you will want to choose an appropriate name. Alexandra Horowitz interviews dog owners about the naming process in this NYT video, where people tell the stories of their pets’ names. While there does not seem to be an exact science to naming a pet—some people simply pick names out of a hat—we do offer one bit of advice: the name you choose should be one you will enjoy repeating, give or take, a kajillion times. Woof!
